Nice Architecture, but why replace lib with dll?

I remeber that in the first days, Engine Export to dll, not lib. What is the purpose of doing so? Thanks!

Actually I don't recall ever using a DLL as the output for the framework... Perhaps you are thinking of the Wild Magic engine by Dave Eberly? I have never really liked the added complexity of dynamic linkage (i.e. compiling the dll and the exe with the same options, build config, compiler version, etc...) so I usually default to static linking.

Do you have a use case where it would be beneficial to have a DLL output?
