Compiling in Visual Studio 2010

Visual Studio 2010 solution and project files will be added in the very near future. Until then, you can follow this procedure to convert the VS2008 files into VS2010 compatible files.
  • Open the Hieroglyph3.sln file with Visual Studio 2010.
  • The conversion wizard will automatically open. Follow the default settings and allow the conversion to be carried out.
  • In VS2010, the additional include directories are specified for each project individually. The include files and library files needed to build Hieroglyph 3 need to be available to the compiler and linker.
    • Right click on the Hieroglyph3 project in the solution browser window. It should look like this:

  • Make sure that the two dependencies that Hieroglyph 3 needs are fulfilled. These are:
    • The DirectX SDK include and lib folders are added.
    • The boost include directory is added.

  • This process has to be repeated for each of the sample projects as well...

This is only a short term solution to get the samples compiling, as the VS2010 files will soon be included in the repository. If you still have trouble compiling, please post your specific error messages in the discussion tab, and we will work through the issues.
